Product Research Trailer

The trailer starts off with quiet deserted setting. Then the pace is picked up when a man on a bike jumps into the scene and starts riding around. The music then starts here as the man is riding through the dessert.

The trailer then goes on by establishing the director by showing clips of films that hes already made. This is a way of appealing to the audience as they may be a fan of the director and the other films he has made. The spilt screens are used throughout this to increase the pace.

The Films the has the captain " he takes us for a ride" while we see the main character riding a bike into a the dessert. This establishes that the man riding the bike is the main character as that he is the focus of the film.

There is fast pace music from the start which implies that this film is going to be fast pace and full of adventure. The music also tells us that the main character is lively, outgoing and rebellious. The music then pauses while the man falls off his bike. The audience is lead to believe that it is a dramatic scene, however he laughs and then the music starts again. It enforces the idea that the characters has a thrill for danger.

It then shows clips of the man partying and having a good time while saying "love it". A close up of a sign is then show which uses the phrase " service 100 miles" which implies that the man is going off into the distance away from civilisation which sets him up for adventure as well as venerability.

The main character then meets two girls who he sets off his adventure with. While he is leading them he says " the guide book says the routes through here, but i know a better way" this again enforces the idea that he rebellious and takes risk. This creates anti caption as well as excitement for the audience as they do not know what is going to happen.

The scene then shows the man and the two girls in a dangerous situation. Then a black screen appears which suggest a dead end or a dramatic change. The the scene goes the man saying" just remember, everything will be okay" and then jumps really far down. The girl then follows him. This again then sets up the scene for adventure and and creates excitement as well as anticipation as they watch the characters fall.

It then goes to a title scene saying " based on the true story of Aron Ralston" which gives the audience a sense of realism.

The scene then goes back to the Aron ( who has now been established as the girls shouted his name as he was falling" and the two girls. Aron runs off and the girl says" i don;t think we figured in his day". Which again enforces his rebellious risk taking persona.

A close scene is shown of him climbing mountains, when all of a sudden we see him fall. This is at a slower pace to create tension. A shot the sky is then shown to show how far down he has gone which makes it more shocking for the audience. This is the dramatic turning point in the film. The sound of birds is used to how alone and distance Aron is from everything. A high shot is used showing him on the ground trapped with a boulder shouting for the two girls.

He goes from being a rebellious characters to be trapped and vulnerable. The camera then goes all the way up from where Aron is trapped, showing for far down he is.

The title scene is shown saying " 127 hours" and then scenes saying " every second counts".
